In the past 30 years, several hurricanes and tropical storms have impacted Eagle Lake, with notable ones being Hurricanes Charley and Frances in 2004 and Irma in 2017. Charley and Frances, mere weeks apart, brought heavy rain and wind, causing widespread damage throughout the region. Irma, a category 4 hurricane, further emphasized the town's vulnerability to adverse weather with substantial rain leading to flooding. Hence, Eagle Lake's immunity from direct coastal impacts should not discount the potential for significant storm-related damages, primarily involving flooding, wind damage, downed trees, and power outages.
