About Juno Beach.
Juno Beach, Florida, due to its geographical location on the east coast of Florida, is highly susceptible to potential hurricane threats, especially considering it is perched directly on the coastline. The town sits extremely close to sea level which means a tremendous risk for storm surge inundation, particularly in a large magnitude hurricane event. A significant rise in water level could cause wide-reaching and devastating flooding in this area. Over the past few decades, hurricanes and the subsequent storm surge have intermittently required evacuation or necessitated recovery efforts. Historically, Juno Beach has witnessed several major hurricanes. The last devastating impact was made by Hurricane Irma in September 2017. Although the town missed the brunt of the hurricane, it still caused substantial damages due to high winds and storm surges. Before this, in 2005, Hurricane Wilma caused significant damage to the Juno Beach Pier and surrounding residential areas. Additionally, in the 1990s, the town witnessed both Hurricane Jeanne and Hurricane Frances in quick succession, which caused considerable flooding and property damage. Residents and the town management should put significant emphasis on hurricane preparedness, continually revising and updating their emergency plans based on these historical weather events.
