For instance, in 2005, Hurricane Wilma brought heavy rain and high winds to the area, contributing to significant coastal erosion and property damage. In 2017, more recently, Hurricane Irma resulted in evacuation orders, power outages, and flood damage in Indian Rocks Beach, demonstrating an ongoing serious risk to property and residents’ safety during hurricane season.
